d&e gatlin gun

I received the bearings I ordered and started to make a new firing pin. I intend to press the bearing on the shaft with lock tight and then peen the end to hold the bearing in place. I dropped the bearing on the floor and have not been able to find it so I continued to take the gun apart. On the side of the groove in the breech ring I noticed some marks from the tip of the firing pins. I cut the outside diameter of the groove a little larger and re-assembled the gun. It turns 10 times better. I also noticed the rim of the cartridge is rubbing the bottom of the cuts in the pan (or tray). I will have to cut the grooves a little deeper. I have tried to follow the measurements in the plans as close as I can but there are no tolerances given. I have to make some more bolts to correct some damage I did. I have thought about replacing the lug with a bearing. I am going to replace the shaft and the front shaft with SS hex as it is difficult to tighten these round pieces. I cut a slot in the ends but I like the hex better. I am going to continue to experiment with the bearings on the firing pins.
