Pete, thanks for your email.
It seems to me that part of the firing pin problem is too much friction. As the pins are made of two pieces I was thinking about changing the top piece to a ball bearing and modifying the cocking ring dimensions to match the bearing. I am also thinking about adding a bearing to the cocking ring to accept the shaft. I ordered several bearings from VXB Ball Bearings and will experiment with this.
