On the contrary, if it fires a modern and readily available cartridge, that does not make it illegal, it merely makes it a "firearm" that must be transferred thru a dealer, etc, rather than a pre-1898 Antique firearm which is not subject to the same statutes. The BATF has stated time and again that it is NOT a machine gun simply and clearly based on the accepted definition of a machine gun as a firearm that is capable of firing more than one shot with a single pull of the trigger. An electric GG IS therfore a MG, while the cranked model is merely a ripid fire weapon....exactly the same as a lever action Winchester, remember...the oneyou loaded on Sunday and fired all week long? It is ONLY thru deliberate and continuous manipulation of the crank, or lever as the case may be, that the weapon fires. If the cranking action ceases the firing stops. Ergo, NOT MG. While its rate of fire may be impressive it is no more illegal than the lever action Winchester. There are no statutess regulating rate of fire, only method of initiation.
