Josh, I assemble the side rails first and then put in the crankshaft holes with an end mill, first one side and then rolling the part 180 to do the other side. I know my prints call for .250" DIA, but I've actually gone to .375" DIA for more ease in assembly. The excess diameter doesn't really show.
