: Do you feel that the fact that they
: have been together since hatching
: would make a difference? I have
: put my query out to a few grey
: breeders, and they all seem to say
: they have never had or heard of
: problems with greys of either sex
: cage sharing, but as you have
: experienced big problems with
: greys together, I may need to
: think again. thank you.

Dear Midge, Sorry it took so long, I don't get to the computer daily,, or bi weekly for that matter
,,, hope my suggestion helps in your choice of what to do,,, the greys biggest problem is being too smart, advanced for birds, for their own good, frequently,, we humans fail to see them as individuals,, think about as Dr. Irene Pepperburg has said with her study of Alex.., you are dealing with a 4-5 year old child, with the emotional state of a two year old for 40-50 plus years ,,,and for being so smart,, emotional,, I do believe they should have the right to select their own pals, mates..,, I have many grey/parrot books in general, I forget which authors,, and I may have read something in birdtalk magazine where they can be finicky , selective about mates,,,if I can dig out the exact reference,, I will get back to you,,, but I read a boy can be on one end of cage girl the other,, and look at each other from afar... and thats it,,,... but as I mentioned,, I saw some bad things in the past..... If they were hatch mates,,, i'm not sure,,, look up some avian vets i think is best,,, and get several opinions,, I ask this only for the best of life for your birds and you.... i'm no expert, i just like to share info. with others, I love this species very much,, and all parrots,,, i would prefer they all stay in the wild,,, but,, my bird has a better life than me,,,,,,,, but if we share our lives with them,, accept the commitment,,, lets all do the best we can to provide for them,,, Good luck with everything,,,, Sincerely Madelynn
