Hello: This is my first time at this site. My african grey, Geraldo, has been displaying some unusual behavior lately. He is almost constantly grabbing at my hands and/or fingers whether I am trying to pet him or not. This is not his usual behavior. He used to be more relaxed and would let me pet him with no problems. Now I constantly have to be on guard because I don't know if he is going to give me a real bite or just grab. I can think of nothing that has changed that would bring on this unusual behavior. As of late, when he bites I calmly put him back in his cage to try to detour this behavior. But things are not getting any better. Now if I try to pet him and he grabs at me and I stop, he grabs at me more. I just can't figure it out his mixed signals. Geraldo is a two year old male who recently has recovered from a fractured leg. But it has been months since that happended and I thought that we had become closer because of the extra care he needed. He looks great and seems fine. But I have been putting up with this nipping behavior for over a week now and I am getting frustrated. Can anyone help me? Thank you, Linda
