: Have some patience. Most greys do not
: speak until they are 1 to 1-1/2
: years old. Gizmo (my grey)
: didn't talk til about 1 year.
: After the first word - his
: vocabulary just took off.
: Unfortunately he has a rare
: bacterial infection that keeps
: reoccuring every few months that
: we treat with antibiotics. If I
: could trade his speaking ability
: to having a happy healthy bird
: all the time - there would be no
: choice. So be grateful you have
: a healthy bird.

: I have an 16month old. He/she
: talks
: when you don't even know,
: especailly when I leave the
: room, not a whole lot but she is
: diffently gathering her vocab
: library. There are several
: surrounding changes that might
: make her feel uneasy. I
: wouldn't worry, do you remember
: how old you were when you
: started to talk? Every one is
: different. Be patient.

: Pepper is my almost 8 month old
: grey.
: She is lovely but she will not
: speak. We have been repeating
: things to her from the very
: beginning. She loves to whistle
: and mimick our whistles but she
: will not speak. When she was
: about 5 month old she would do
: this muttering type of sound but
: she is not doing that anymore
: either.
: Any suggestions would be welcome.
: Thank you

:I'm in the same boat your in. I also have an eight month old who loves to whistle and did make word sounds at about five months old. Everyone keeps saying be patient but its hard when you hear and read all the amazing stories about African Greys and knowing that your baby has the same potential.
