This is the explanation that I've gotten from Doug. The show was taped on 2 different days (Sat. and Sun., Aug. 19th and 20th, 2001), the band playing live on both days. When they edited the final show together they used shots from both of these tapings, however, whereas they could cut visually from one day's shot to the next day's shot without it being apparent, they could not edit the audio together from one day's performance to the next day's as they don't play to a click track, so they had to use the audio from one performance only (mostly Sunday's show). Consequently some of the shots that they used from Saturday did not line up exactly with the audio from Sunday as they weren't lip synched .
"I assure you that the performances were both totally live and if we were going to lip synch we would have done a better job !"
