Many thanks for the photograph you sent me. Apologies for the delay in my replying. I have been working on my latest art project seven days per week! Yes please - I would really appreciate it if your brother could send me some photographs of the property (maybe including some of your family in or around the building).
Best wishes,
William Serridge

: My parents.brother and myself moved to Gwylfa
: Hiraethog in 1951 where my father was a
: gamekeeper to a syndicate who owned the
: shooting rights to the moors mainly,
: Peckover Burrill, Colonel Stanley Weyman,
: Plas Gwyn, Llanychan and others. We lived in
: part of the house. My younger sister was
: born while we lived there in 1953. The place
: was shrouded in mist for 9 months of the
: year and the winters were hard and the
: weather unforgiving. We children attended
: school at Pentrefoelas and a taxi took us
: there every day.
: The gamekeeper post became part time in 1955
: and we left the place that year to live in
: neighbouring Hafod Elwy, where my father
: became a bailiff at Tan y Graig for Tommy
: Stewart Cox. We were the last inhabitants of
: Gwylfa Hiraethog.
