I like to hide my taskbar since I have limited space working mostly from a laptop (that's another reason why FD is so important to me, btw!). Having the icons in the system tray is not as conventient as if the icons could be placed anywhere on the screen in a floating toolbar much the way some other virtual desktop managers do.
