Posted by bboyjkang on March 15, 2006, 5:58 pm If this imbalanced (compensating) area is injured, the pain will usually not go away right away because the area of primary injury, which caused the imbalance, is unable to compensate for the new injury. This can lead to long-term problems and pain unless the muscle damage is repaired. The pain may even alternate from the neck to the lower back as your body tries to help itself by letting each area have a periodic rest from the pressure. The imbalances generally gets worse with time because the excess muscle stress from the imbalance causes even more muscle damage and tightness. Anyone have this and recover from it???

The three normal curves, the cervical (neck), thoracic (mid back), and the lumbar (lower back) region affect each other. When one area is injured another area compensates. For example if you suffer from a neck injury and the muscles and joints are not repaired, the lower back compensates to re-establish the best balance possible. This can ease the pressure through out the spinal region; as a result this compensated area then becomes injury prone as well.
