Then make sure he watches you close when you do your strict reps at the same weight or heavier. He will quickly find out that once he starts doing stricter reps, he will have to reduce his weight amounts. Now, if this guy is like I figured....attitude know it all, then its only a matter of time before he hurts himself because his clothes are so loud he wont be able to hear you. From my experience, this is usually the type of person that a newbie will copy because of his flamboyacne, braggido, and flashy energy he reeks of. If you cant get to him directly, tell the staff memebers that his screaming is annoying you and if they would ask him to tone it down a bit. Im sure there is "gym ettiquette" that has to be enforced. Grunts, groans, an occasional yell or dropped weight is ok but not constant and if you see any people copying him, warn them to stay away. Desire, Dedication, Discipline Scott Ismari

: Does anyone ever address something like this? Number 1, I don't
: want to see anyone hurt. Number 2, I don't want to be
: "That Guy". Poor form is rampant in my gym. I
: normally don't say anything, but there is this guy (wears the
: multi color tiger striped pants, grunts, screams, throws the
: weights around, poses, etc - and has nothing to be very proud
: of) that has a form that is going to get him hurt (bench press
: bouncer, back user, etc). The most egregious example is his
: standing barbell military press. His back is leaned back,
: almost at a 45 degree angle. I am not lying, he looks like he
: is doing a standing incline bench press. I don't know the guy
: and quite frankly his poor form isn't hurting me. I don't want
: to be "That Guy" who thinks he knows it all. I would
: like to think that the trainers/owners of the gym would say
: something to him, but it has been it doesn't appear that anyone
: has. Any suggestions?
:
Well that is up to you if you want to give suggestions, but you could try approaching him in conversation by saying "I noticed ......but you could try it like .......". Or make up a story on how you were ficticiouly hurt (unless it really happended)by doing it that way and how you made gains once you started doing it correctly.
