Here are the most accurate ways to measure going from least accurate to most:
5) Bio-electrical impendance <--- way too many factors can influence results, generally regarded as a huge waste of money.
4) Bodyfat calipers <---fairly accurate in the hands of a trained individual.
3) Hydro-static weighing <--- only a few factors can influence results.
2) Bod-pods <--- haven't quite caught on but are in high regard.
1) DEXA body scans <--- can distinguish between skin, muscle, organs, etc..however, these are found primarily in medical and research facilities.

: I would like to purchase a Scale/BF Monitor.
:
: I have been using FatTrackII callipers, but I have not been able
: to perfect my measuring technique, and my measurements are al
: over the place. I know these BIA devices may not be as accurate,
: but it's a consistent way to measure bf%.
:
: I am looking at the "Tanita" brand BF monitors, if you
: can recommend another brand, please do.
:
: 1 question: How important/accurate is the water weight % that
: some models offer?
:
:
:
: I dont like Tatiana scales or other like monitors because it
: does not really allow for the more fit people. I think
: calipers, although not entirely accurate can be good enough to
: keep track of your bodyfat. As long as you keep consistent on
: the measurements every time, if you show a steady loss, your on
: the right track. I think the most accurate three are water
: tank, electronic impedence (I think thats the right term ) and
: calipers. They all are about 3% off or so.
:
: I think the mirror is the most accurate way, it hides nothing.
