Thomas, better recheck your rep ranges. 8-12 is NOT ideal for strength, better for hypertrophy according to almost all sources. Strength is usually in the 1-6 rep range. Was going to comment on that in your reply to Diane. Now, that being said and clarified, I would use multiple sets in the 1-6rep range for strength, 8-12 range for hypertrophy, and yes, after a warmup set or two,go with one-two top "work sets. With conditioning, strength, strength-endurance in mind, my rep range would be all over the radar with multiple sets.
