Posted by Scott Ismari --Previous Message-- A benching purist would faint if he saw partial reps. I feel that you should go all the way down for the main stay of your bench routine. Partial reps can be saved for finishing work or adjusting to a heavier weight, but to be used sparingly. Ypu could have two problems here....too close of a grip for your wingspan or you just need to stretch the shoulder and pecs for a better ROM. Im only 5-5 and use a wide grip myself. You could probably place your hands completey ouside the outer rings and be ok, however a varied grip spacing can be useful in fully developing your chest. tris and shoulders. I would try both grip change and static stretching to see if that recifies the problem. Scott Ismari

: I am 6'2 and weigh approx 175. I have arms that are longer than
: they should be for my height. Should i be lowering the bar down
: to my chest, or stopping when the eblows are at a 90deg
: angle(biceps paralell with floor)? I usually dont come anywhere
: near touching my chest with the bar, as it is a painfull stretch
: on my pecs/shoulders to get the bar that low. Any help on
: technique would be great!
