He stays at the gym for at least 1-2 hours each time. He has gotten to the point where he never gets sore from working out, even after a 2 hour session. He primarily uses dumbells, barbells, and cable pulleys. I work out 3 times a week and the longest I stay at the gym is 1 hour. I am training for strength and endurance so everything is many sets of 15. I specifically target 1 group of muscles per day, such as ham strings and shoulders for 1 day, chest and quads for another day, and triceps and calves for another day. I primarily use body weight and dumbells. However, I get quite sore in that muscle group, which is why I split my workouts up.

My friend and I work out on two very different schedules.
1) Is it bad that I get sore after every work out?
2) For my purposes, is my method of training optimal? How about for my friend?
