Our E. grandis took a heavy blow with severe limb die-back from temperatures in the lower twenties last winter. The following spring, it began sprouting all up and down the trunk. Since it was situated inside a public area and it was quite tall, this deems the tree a hazard so I had to make the heartbreaking decision to cut it down. I was comforted by the thought that it'll resprout from the roots. Alas, it has not resprouted to this day. Can someone here tell me why it did not resprout? Is it because the tree expended a lot of energy resprouting from the trunk so there wasn't enough left over to sprout from the roots?
