eucs are normally planted on top of the soil medium and NOT covered. unless you live in a very high light intensity and very hot area they can probably tolerate (and even require) fairly bright light for good growth upon germination. unless your species requires cold stratification for a certain period (some high elevation types do) most eucs should be able germinate in about 3 weeks or so under optimal conditions of light, warmth, and moisture.
