interesting about various populations and locations of the 2 species---now if i could only get some seed of that inland population of saligna you mentioned... you are probably right about the tenderness of grandis---certainly, the related robusta (also a near coastal species) has been repeatedly killed to the ground (and then resprouted---until this season) while the deanei and saligna were comparitively untouched.
