This is a very common tree here in the S.E. United States. I live in Columbia, SC and encounter this tree somewhere nearly every few miles! It is often a rather ratty, twisted, leaning, and crooked tree, I guess do to the periodic severe cold snaps that we encounter here in a zone 8a. Also I imagine that it must have a shallow root system do to the fact that it topples over more than you would think. A neighbor of a relative of mine in Yulee, FL tried unsuccessfully to tie up a tree that kept getting blown over before finally, in futility, cutting it down. Other than having the tendency of retaining the juvenile foilage and maybe its relatively smallish size, considering what I've mention above, I can not understand the popularity for this eucalyptus. Of course most of you here on this site know of my distaste for a crooked tree!!! Good luck anyway and I hope it turns out OK.
