Phil, interesting pictures. are the grasslands "natural" and are they "normally" so apparently dry looking on at least a seasonal basis? even here on the suppossedly very rainy south coast of Oregon (west coast U.S.A.)we have a distinct 3 month or so dry period in the summer and right now our grasslands look kind of similar to the conditons you show whenever you took the pictures (late winter?????).
