I left the highlands at Guatemala City and travelled SE into quite an arid zone, with scrub and cactuses. Then approaching the Carribean coast, it started to look much lusher. There was a heavy storm that went on for hours at Rio Dulce on Sat night. On Sun morning took a boat cruise down to Livingston on the coast. Luckily the mornings usually seem to be fine. Then PM was driven N to Flores, with persistent rain on the way up. It appears the wet season has started early here, but the weather is milder as a result.
