actually there is a eucalyptus that is closely related to nicholii named e. acaciformis (literally "having the form of acacia"). yes, certain of the phyllode'"leafed" acacias resemble eucs but the scent will almost always be a dead-give away (assuming you dont see the distinctive flowers and fruit of either the acacia or the eucs). on the other hand, many australian, south american, and african acacias have ferny type foliage which strongly resembles what many folks down south call "mimosa" (aka silk tree=albizia julibrisim) an otherwise closely related genus to acacia.
