I think other Aust natives such as banksias need careful preparation of seeds as well.
Fire is not a pre-requisite for germination of most eucs, though there are a few species such as regnans and delegatensis that don't release their seeds unless the parent tree is killed by fire (yes, it's true!)These few species (all monocalypts) put all their energy into rapid growth, and have never developed defences against fire in their bark, as most eucs have.
