your nurseryperson"s advice is good---wait until late spring or even early summer to see if you get some sprouts from the very base of the plant (the above ground stem is probably "toast"). globulus is not a reliable frost hardy species and really cannot be recommended for long term cultivation except in the very mildest areas. there are many other hardier species that can be tried if you are interested in growing eucalyptus trees in areas that get winters with regular moderate frosts.
