Gus: When I first saw the photos you posted of E. robusta trunks, I thought they were almost a dead ringer. I was already to reply that the case was solved!
Then I decided to scrutinize juxtaposed photos, that's when I realized the leaves were different. (I do recall what you said in an earlier post about juvenile, intermediate, and adult leaves.) Had I that knowledge the day I took the photos I would have tried to zoom up and photo some of the uppermost leaves for comparison.
In any case, all this is a learning experience for me. As a master gardener with my county extension office it behooves me to know as much as possible in terms of the non native trees that grow in my area, as customers bring in small branches/leaves for I.D. and I haven't the slightest idea what species of tree they are from.
But further, I want to start growing some eucs, especially C. torelliana. One will suffice. I just like the smooth trunks after the bark weathers away.
