There are areas with more restrictive winters than Canberra, but even the "worst winters" are relatively mild compared to some areas Eucalyptus are introduced to in other countries.
It is there were they show their plasticity, or ability to adapt to more restrictive environments. But of course, each species has its limits.
Keeping record of the lowest temperatures reached each winter is important for each grower/acclimatizer. But trying to keep record of the duration of the periods under zero (0ºC, 32ºF) has the same importance. At least for that event involving the lowest temperature each winter.
