All the previous was for air temperature. But plants do have roots. And here comes the surprising numbers:
- Ground surface temperature, average low (July)= 27ºF (-2.8ºC)
- Ground surface temperature, extreme lowest (July) = 5ºF (-15.1ºC)
Those 5ºF at ground level is a killer frost, the worst in 70 years, happening by 1971 (same day as the lowest minimum temperature ever). A quite brutal radiational frost it seems, but very rare as event. Eucs surviving that (with no damage) would certainly be somewhat cold hardy. But it is difficult to know which are those nowadays, isn't it
