Both directly as "woody biomass" (also known as firewood, but can take other appearence different to the classic log) and as a source of ethanol (alcohol made from sugars obtained from cellulose, an "ingredient" present in wood). Like many other trees in the first case, and some other trees in the second case. The later case means that the lignin part of the wood obtained as subproduct after ethanol extraction can also be used as biofuel.
