dont worry so much about the foliage. first, check the bark on the trunk: scratch beneath the outer "skin" if you find green that means the main stem is alive and you should probably get new folage. if the underbark is brown that indiactes possible harm/death of the main stem which is not good. however, even if the above ground stem is dead, you have a reasonable chance of getting resprouting from the roots so do not dispair and immeadialtely try digging up an apparently dead plant, wait until mid summer to see if anything comes up. good luck.
