There should be a lot of wildlife benefit to such a tree -insectivors and nectaring birds. I have Orchard orioles comming through here on their return migration to Mexico and Central America, and they really forage the nectar bearing plants such as Erythrina,Hamelia patens,etc. - a really colorful and fun bird. Thank you Gus,beautiful flowers and beautiful leaves, and thanks to Matt Leddy for some of the best shots of this species on the internet.It's been nearly 2 years ,I think, since I checked on the only E. sideroxylon that I know of growing in Houston,Tx..If that tree ever flowers ( the owner said this tree of about 15 years never had), I need to plant the seed.
