Gus, the 1814 temperature (-14,3 C) is the average temp for January. The lowest recorded here is -32 C. In the mid 80's we have had three cold winters in a row. Then the lowest recorded was -28 C. January 1987. The winter 1986 to 1987 almost all of the Baltic sea was frozen, only a small spot was not frozen.
