Posted by Christian (Switzerland) on 6/28/2007, 1:29 pm The following pictures were taken in my garden in southern Switzerland. In July 2006, I planted different Eucalyptus seedlings I had grown from seeds in late winter 2005/06. I had chosen the species because of their spectacular flowers. The seedlings were planted close to the trunks of Trachycarpus palms, and, as can be seen on the pictures, the soil they were planted in is very well drained ... consisting mostly of Trachycarpus roots. However, regular watering (a big thank to my neighbours) allowed them to establish. Picture taken July 2006. From left to right: Grevillea robusta, Hakea spp. (looking like Pinus pinea seedlings), Eucalyptus leucoxylon ssp. rosea, E. caesia, E. tetraptera, E. erythrocorys, E. forrestiana, and E. torquata. Here a close-up of the picture above. Picture taken March 2007. When visiting the garden in March 2007, I found that the plants had growng considerably. The plant on the very right is a Prosopis juliflora. In two weeks I will again visit the garden, and I am curious to see how much they have grown since March 2007. And this is a young Casuarina cunninghamiana I planted as a seedling in October 2005. I hope that at least one or two of these Eucalyptus species will grow to maturity and display its spectacular flowers. Christian
