Hi All,
I am not sure if anyone still checks these boards. I check occassionally but notice no-one has posted for a long while.
I hope you are all doing ok?
I had a lap 8 weeks ago which ended up being more extensive surgery than I thought it would be. Despite taking the pill for years and then starting Prostap injections & Livial hrt in January, alot of endo was found, basically on most pelvic organs apart from my bowel! This has really knocked me for six, physically & emotionally! It was so painful after the op and is taking me alot longer to recover than I thought it would. I am hoping I am still healing as I am still getting regular pain at varying levels which I am finding pretty disheartening but my gynea said it would probably take 12 weeks to heal. I am continuing with the Prostap at least until December when I will see my new specialist again who I think it wonderful!
The main reason I am staying on the Prostap is because we are hoping now the endo has been lasered that the Prostap will keep it at bay and give me some respite. I have found it really hard emotionally to get my head around so much endo being found, especially when I was being told that the endo was under control with the pill by my old gynea and then the new consultant finding so much and finding so much while I have been on prostap, I just found it gutting!
Anyway, despite the pain I am having, I am managing & its an exciting time which I wanted to share.
3 weeks on Friday I finish at uni and will finally be a qualified Childrens Nurse!
I am currently on a special care baby unit for my final placement nursing premature babies and I am loving it. I have settled in really well there and am getting very positive feedback from my mentors and other staff nurses/sisters. I am really enjoying working on the unit and am learning so much, I will be sad to leave there in just over 3 weeks. I was told the other day by one of the sisters and junior sisters that they would offer me a job there if I didnt already have my job sorted for when I qualify which is lovely to hear. One of my mentors gave me very positive feed back on Saturday when doing my portfolio about how well she thinks I am doing which is lovely and encouraging to hear.
So I finish uni in just over 3 weeks and qualify. I will then be working for my friends/ex-bosses that I worked for last year in my year out to Nanny their little boy for 2 weeks as the nanny that took over from me has gone on Maternity leave. I am still in regular contact with them and have gained them as lovely friends so it will be lovely to look after their gorgeous little boy for 2 weeks and also earn a bit of extra money.
Then, 6 weeks today, my boyfriend & I will be moving into our new home together! I am sooooo excited! We have found lovely flat in East London that we will be moving into 6 weeks today and I cant wait to move in with my boyfriend after waiting 2 & a half years to be able to do so due to me being at uni! Our flat is so lovely and I have been busy buying things for our new home together! I am so excited about us moving in together, I love him so much & hate being apart from him during the week now so we are both on count down to the 21st Sept when we move!
On the 28th September I start my job at a hospital in London as a Staff Nurse on th childrens uni! I am very excited and am now starting to feel ready to qualify I think. I have worked so hard at uni and it hasnt been easy but I love nursing and my determination is finially paying off. I am so close to the end now and it is such a fantastic feeling to being abot to qualify and start my career. I am very excited about my job, obviously nervous but its a fantastic opportnity for me and its all worked out so well.
So, I will continue to check the boards, it would be lovely to hear from you ladies.
Thankyou for all your support since I found this site.
Take Care, Lots of Love, Jacqui xxx
