Hello Ladies,
It has been a long time. Sorry that I have been out of touch with some of you. Please feel free to email me if you like as I don't always check in here. So sorry that Sue is not back. I know at one time she had mentioned to me that she was growing weary of doing the message board, but I had told her that we all need her and she kept on. But the way that she went missing leaves us all wondering. I know she had been remodeling her house and was soon to be a mother in-law. I do so wonder how she is doing. I certainly hope nothing went wrong.
Well, okay, my next surgery is October 9th, 2008. My doctor, Dr. Mills, a colorectal surgeon will be putting my bowel back together. He said that enough bowel was left that I will have normal bowel function. He also said that since the disconnected part has been sitting and doing nothing for over a year, it will take awhile before things get back to normal. That part of the bowel will have to get strong again. So that means I will have diarrhea and some accidents. I have been very apprehensive to have surgery again. I am very concerned about the outcome as you can imagine. I every so often try to think of the positives. No more bag hanging off my tummy. I will be able to jump into a shower whenever I feel like it. I won't have a lump in my clothing. LOL
I am 13 months post op, and I am feeling pretty much back to myself with a few kinks in the armor. I have some scarring on my left lung and a slight problem with a pressure feeling in my ears. Those things are not going to go away. I still have some weakness, but I am getting stronger all the time. My weight is all back, I look healthy, and many of my scars are faded, only the big one on my tummy is hideous (I hate it).
September 9th we start back to school, I am not looking forward to be overly busy. It has been nice to relax this summer. In late July some of my pain came back, related to the bladder. Dr. Cook, whom I keep in touch with, says that I need physical therapy. So after my surgery, the next step will be to work on my pelvic floor muscles and get them strengthened. I have found a couple of gyns that work with the pelvic floor.
Sending my best wishes to all you gals.
Hugs,
Becky
