Now Playing: Beautiful Times

Posted by MN~Sue So nice to get your update! I miss our 'regular' visits on here, but we both just don't get here like we used to. Life has a way of doing that I hope that you and Bob can retire in 2008 as you are planning. I know Terry is looking forward to the day he retires. It's great to hear that you are still really enjoying your new position! That's wonderful! I think Terry is also enjoying the job change/promotion he took recently. It is, of course, a bit hectic, with new responsibilities and new things to learn as well as being in a supervisory position and still having to wind up operations he had in the fire with his prior job, but I think he welcomes the change and even the change in location, even though it means a commute to a nearby town. He carpools with another man, most days, so that helps in regard to the high gas prices. We also have all the remodeling stuff that is keeping his thoughts busy and the communications he has to take care of with the contractor. He was off work today, so we were running around getting more info on fiber cement siding that we have decided on for the exterior of our home. We thought we were going to be going with steel siding UNTIL we got a look at this product and started getting info on it. We really loved the look of the 'mahogany stain' type finish we saw on homes that we looked at. We thought the fact that our contractor put it on his house and one of the building supply companies in town also put it on their building must mean that they like and trust it, so that was also an encouraging endorsement for it. Then we had to stop by the man's home that is going to install our hardwood floors. He sure is a nice man. All the people we have been working with from the contractor, to the business man that sold us our windows, to the general contractor have all been really great to work with. It's such a relief after the situation we had with the first contractor that just kept stringing us along and never getting anything down on paper or a start date that he said was supposed to be last spring! NOW if the actual work only goes well! The 'small town' experience is nice when you actually get 'good/professional' and nice people to work with. This man that is going to install our hard wood floor seems like such a nice guy. He loves to visit every time we have seen him, that he almost feels like someone we've known for years, haha. Today he gave us a CD that he and his band made. We didn't know he was a musician. He and his son, that both run his business play together along with other musicians. One of the other musicians (Kris) turns out to be a good school buddy of our son, Jon (Jonathan). John (floor installer) said his his son, also named Jonathan, is best friends with Kris and married Kris' cousin. [that's a lot of John, Jon, Jonathans!, haha] It's kind of funny, we keep discovering things/people in common when we visit. We discovered that we also knew the same people when we lived in a small town not far from the Canadian border, which he also lived in. I am sorry to hear that Cody is suffering with depression. It's certainly understandable. I pray things start looking up for him!! If he needs help, I hope he will allow someone to help him through these dark days. Maybe once spring gets here and he can get more sunlight and fresh air and maybe be more active with being outside more, it will also help to raise his spirits. I know it does me! I don't think we all need a diagnosis of SAD (Seasonal Affective Disorder) to feel a bit sluggish and even down when we are cooped up indoors so much in the winter months and don't get enough sunlight. I am sure it affects me and I don't think I even realize it right away, it's sort of a slow gradual process and then I finally start realizing that I am just not feeling as 'up' and am lacking the energy and desire to do things as much, as the winter drags on. Sounds like a fun time bowling! I hope you aren't 'paying' for it now! I know my arm/upper back would never allow me to get away with that. I ended up having to spend too much time online this week to 'window shop' for the remodel and my entire arm from my shoulder to my wrist have been aching a lot from it. I dreaded having to go back on the computer this morning to finish it. Well on that note, I have to give this arm and back a rest and get some shut-eye. I just couldn't get my brain out of gear last night when I went to bed and could not fall asleep for the longest time, so I am ready to hit the hay now at 1 am........at least I hope my 'mind' is ready to shut down, as my eyes and the rest of me are Take care, Gloria! Love,
