Posted by Becky I am sorry that I was not around to help you with your question. What did you decide about the Methadone? The only knowledge I have of Methadone is from when I worked at the County offices. I worked for Social Services, but we shared offices with the Health Department at that time. The offices were downtown and there was a clinic that serviced drug addicts in the building. I remember one client coming in and yelling that he needed his Methadone. I was young at the time and knew nothing about such things, but my education started there. I looked up on the internet and have left a link for you regarding the drug. It has been around for many years. I seems that doctors are recently resorting to its use due to recent publicized abuse and deaths on OxyContin. Methadone was first manufactured in 1937 by a German scientist and has been in use for many years. I think it has a bad stigma since it is used in helping addicts kick their addictions. I think you are terrific to ask questions and do research before you try it. It is always good to seek out other people's advice and experience. Please keep us posted on how you are doing and if the medication helps you.
