Now Playing: Beautiful Times

Posted by Barbara Chris belonged to a community flying club. He got his pilot's license several years ago. Yesterday he was flying a 6 passenger plane to a nearby county to get some flying time in. Apparently he had engine failure and radioed the local airport. A local medflight helicopter was in the area, heard the distress call and witnessed Chris' plane losing altitude. He radioed the tower that he was not going to make it and tried to emergency land in an open field but crashed into the nearby trees due to no engine power. The plane exploded on impact and by the time the medflight crew landed there was no hope. He was the only one in the plane. I can only imagine what must have been going through his mind those last few minutes and hope that he did not suffer. I can't stop crying when I think about this. I am just in shock over this. It makes no sense. Chris went above and beyond to help his patients and was also actively involved in clinical research for cancer patients. Please keep his wife Roxanne and their son in your prayers. Roxanne was visiting relatives in California when this happened, I live in Virginia. What a horrible way for her to find out this news. They have been married for many years. Chris and Roxanne have touched so many lives. I wanted to thank you all too for your concern about my mom and her recent surgery. She has had a few setbacks but is doing well. I'm sorry for not posting as much now, I have been spending a lot of time helping my mom with her recovery along with working full time. I have been reading the posts and trying to stay up to date, by the time I get home at night there is not a lot of time left to reply. You all are in my thoughts and prayers. Thank you again.

Hi friends. I am in total shock still. A coworker / friend of mine was killed in a plane crash yesterday. Chris was an oncologist at the hospital I work at. He and his wife were also friends of mine outside of work. Chris was one of the most caring physicians anyone could ever ask for. I think of him as the kind of doctor so many of us with endo wish we could find. He took time with patients, listened to their concerns, explained options, called 'just to check on them', developed a community outreach program for cancer patients and even made a few housecalls. His wife counsels cancer patients and provides spiritual support / chaplain services for them. Chris and his wife worked together at the hospital for several years. His wife stopped working a year ago to spend more time with their son before he would go to college and to spend more time with Chris.
