Now Playing: Beautiful Times

Posted by MN~Sue How are you doing today? I pray you are doing better! I have not been around much, so apologize for the delay in my reply to your post! It's been a busy time at home with company and traveling and gardening this summer. I am so sorry you are going through SOOOO much. My heart goes out to you. I can only begin to imagine all you are facing and living with. I am so glad that your boyfriend is supportive and helping you to deal with this. You are so young too, to be faced with such severe health problems and decisions ~ I feel so badly for you!! I don't know where you live. I am wondering if it is at all possible for you to have a consult with one of the top endo specialists in the country? Dr. Albee, from all I have heard from SO many others that have doctored with him and had surgery with him is excellent. A very caring skilled physician. He has been the surgeon for some at our forum over the years. It was always my 'dream' to get to him, but it didn't happen. Fortunately, I was able to hang on with no surgery in the past years when it seemed imminent, until I reached menopause and I am one of the lucky ones that have found relief from my endo due to menopause! Anyways, Dr. Albee is in Atlanta, GA. He has a website with excellent information, in case you have not visited his site, I would highly recommend it. It is linked on my homepage and I will place a link here also: http://www.centerforendo.com/ Dr. Albee has helped so many women that had repeated surgeries with no cessation of their endo symptoms and often times worsening, due to adhesions and botched surgeries. One can always send off their medical records and a personal description of their pain and situation to the CEC (Center for Endometriosis Care where Dr. Albee is) to Dr. Albee for a review and opinion. You might want to do that at the very least, considering all you are being told about the severity of your situation (ostomy, hysterectomy, etc). There are also other endo specialists in other parts of the country, if that would be possible. You might want to check out my homepage for other sites and doctors: http://www.geocities.com/endometriosis_forum_1000_mnsue/index.htm You asked opinions about waiting for a surgeon or having the surgery now. My feeling has always been that the surgeon's skill and expertise is the MOST important thing to consider. If you can get adequate pain control to do that and you are not risking a worsening of your health that requires prompt intervention, then I would aim for that, if possible. An inadequate surgeon can leave one in pain and even possibly worsen the situation or not have the best/desired outcome that a expert in the field is more likely to have. I know how HARD it is to research doctors when in so much pain. It can be overwhelming when all one wants/needs is for the pain and anxiety to STOP! I am praying that you find the right doctor(s) to help you and give you your life back. Please keep us informed as you are able. I am thinking of you and praying for you.
