I will not be ready for a pup for another 12-18 months. I realize that is far out, but I want to really really take my time with researching this breed, selecting a breeder, selecting the right lines, and the right puppy. I'm not in a rush, I will wait, I will travel, and I will pay to get the RIGHT Mal for me.
My ideal pup- Female. Temperament is the TOP priority (smart, confident, affectionate, playful, biddable, STABLE, non-reactive, safe with small dogs. That is to say, maybe not the highest prey drive). I would love a dog that, with the right training, could be trusted off-leash. A dog that is socially stable and safe around other dogs, people, children. Structure is also critical since this will be a sport dog and I hope to be doing ALOT of agility for many years (on the smaller side, nice compact body with good rear angulation, good front end with correct shoulders, good or better hips & elbows, free from degenerative myelopathy).
Perhaps there would be a nice female in a litter that isn't cut out for IPO/police/military/protection work (lacking in prey or defense drive) that still likes to work and play? Maybe this would be a good agility dog. Not that I am looking for a dog lacking confidence, I'm just not particularly interested in bite work. A social, playful, affectionate dog would be a better dog for me than one that is crazy about biting and gripping
Color is not of concern to me.
What do you think? Is this possible?
