Hello! I am researching breeds for my next agility dog. A guy I train with has 3 malinois, which has gotten me keenly interested in malinois and Dutch shepherds. I'd love your input on if either of these would be an appropriate breed for me. My husband and I are in the process of buying an acreage which will be fenced for the dogs. I currently have 2 mini schnauzers that I do Rally, agility, and therapy work with. My husband and I both work full time. The dogs go running with us 2x a week and go to training classes 2x week (plus yard time and practice at home). My dogs are fed a fantastic raw diet. For my next competition dog, I have chosen not to get another terrier since I want a dog that is more handler focused. I want high drive and work ethic and intelligence, with an off switch. I would like a dog that is off-leash reliable (my terriers are not). I love training and am willing to invest the time, but I don't want to end up with a dog that is too hot & over the top. I just want a great dog that will be highly competitive in agility, given the right training.
