OK. I think I have better picture now. I would go back to the drag weighting, but go light. Maybe keep the dog on the leash and correct if he starts to roll, or thrash. Then imediately start moving again. However, once a dog knows he can get the harness off(by rolling/flipping), he will do it again, and then you have a problem. :^)
Yes, go to a very light weight, and then slowly add the weight back a little at a time. I like to use window weights, and actually some of mine are broken in half and only weight 3-4 pounds, so I can gradually increase weight.
Also, what weight have you been dragging, and what the harness do you have?
