HI all! Remember when I posted that I normally let other breeders do what they want, but I was mystified by Mary LaPorte, a local breeder of German Shepherds? My concern was based on a phone call from my friend Jan Hansen.. really, this is a dead topic, but I just had to take off to the post office to pick up a certified letter. It's such a nice day, I was hoping to get a lot of outdoor work done, but NOOO.. I have to go to the post office, to pick up a letter from Heidi M. Moen, of 6427 W. Reynolds rd, Haslett, MI. 48840. In this letter, she says... (and I quote)
Please accept this letter as written notice to remove my name (Heidi), affiliation (Lansing Firefighter), and any inference that I am training with you from your blog page (http:members3boardhost.come/dogsports.mseg.1254337083.htm) also known as "Ask Cheryl Message Board". As I have never met you, spoken to you, or had any form of contact with you, I find it astonishing that you feel free to use my name, affiliation and infer that I train with you on your forum. Failure to comply with this request will require further action on my part."
So, Heidi, I'm publically stating that although you can clearly read how I got the information regarding the physical deformity of your German Shepherd that you purchased from Mary LaPorte, as I've copied here..
"other breeders "do their thing", and stay out of commenting on the actions of others that don't affect me... but after a conversation this A.M. I can't help it...
I have an old friend, Jan Hanson, whose husband was an Ingham Co Sheriff Deputy. They both stay in touch with a lot of the Ingham county folks, and one of their best friends, Kay Pell, is a current Ingham Co. K-9 handler. I have heard from Jan, that a local breeder, Mary LaPorte, is going to do a repeat breeding of Spirit and Shakti... both of these German Shepherds are good specimens, with good drives, but I know of several dogs from that cross that have either bad hips, bad elbows, or both. Mary has denied any refund, or replacement to our club member, Nick King, blaming him for the atrocious elbows his dog has, who came from that cross... I wonder how she justifies the elbows on Heidis' dog (a Lansing Fire fighter) or the hips on Koby, the working dog of Kays.... at any rate, I want folks to know about this, especially since I end up working with the dogs, and see the pain and frustration that it causes when a dog has bad health, both for the dog and the owner."
If you notice, I clearly said, in line six, that I based my information on a conversation with my friend, Jan Hanson. Perhaps you missed that part?? At any rate, here goes, I hope this helps dispell any rumors that may be circulating out there...
I, Cheryl Carlson, have never met, nor care to meet, Heidi Moen, of Haslett. I, Cheryl Carlson, have never trained Heidi (clearly, based on her inability to read the printed word) or her dog (which I probably couldn't, because it doesn't have good joints.)
Please feel free to contact me further if you wish, but a simple phone call (517-719-0208) or even a letter that doesn't require me to go into town would be great!!! ![]()
