YES! Two of my GSD's are certified therapy dogs that are also trained and titled personal protection dogs. Bart and Lilli are now 10 and 12 years old and 'worked' at a maximum security residential youth facility with boys from age 12 through 18. The boys there are all 'bad boys' that never knew about the protection side of my dogs. In fact, one boy told Bart to attack one of the other boys and Bart just laid on the floor wanting his belly scratched. From then on, my over 100 lb guy had the reputation of being a wimp. Bart and LIlli have been retired from doing therapy work now for about 10 months. I know they miss it, but after 7 years it was time.
With the right training (thanks to Cheryl) and the right temperment to begin with (again-thanks to Cheryl) we enjoyed meeting and working with these boys.
Good luck with Nico and keep me posted how he's doing.
