Hi,
Like Pat said we dont know the history of the dog. That could be the first time that helper saw the dog. The dog could have been taught to transfer bite to pressure arm or active arm / part of body.
As far as correction from the decoy, it was to late, and too extreme in angle and movement of arm. Needed to be much faster, and lot less body / arm movement. Cant look like normal stick hits, if it does you can create other problems.
However we need to remember its a Malinois, and maybe a young one at that. Dog might not understand the rules of the game yet. So the large sweeping movement of the stick arm / combined with the lack of movement in the sleeve arm..... malinois..... dog instinctively goes for prey arm, in this case the prey is not the sleeve do to the fact its dead, but the prey is the stick arm.
As for the line..... again Malinois... SMART!
The handler had the line on before, dog looked pretty good, still needs work though. However, maybe the handler is having problems with the dog realizing when she has it and when she doesn't... so naturally for the sport dog they resorted to decoy corrections for the dirty bite.
But there is yet another question. The first time the handler is close to the dog, say 3 feet. The second clip the handler is farther say 12 feet. So could be a proximity issue with the dog getting dirty on the Bark and Hold. I would say proximity do to the fact that the dog still has the long line on in the second bite. Malinois are smart enough to know when the line is on and off if not done 100% proper with the long line work.
Cheryl?
Carol?
Thoughts?
