How do you define "hard"? I define it as a dog that needs a very strong correction/handler to impress on it the value of what it is doing. The opposite of "willing".
I don't breed for "hardness", but neither do I breed for softness... I want a willing dog, but one that stands up well to opposition from the decoy, and who has decent fight drive... Breeding for hardness means that you will limit your clientele to folks who can handle and like that type of dog. In most situations, a hard dog with high drives is fun to watch, but will not stand on most podiums....
