Javelin(Ramsey/Inca) is now a SchH 2. It was the first trial of the season and maybe that is the excuse I can use for her scores
73 - 78 - 88
Tracking was on sod and boy was she FAST! She blew by the first article(-7 points) and missed the first corner by about 6 feet. Never lifted her head though, and continued to work until she found the track again. Had more problems on the second corner but indicated the last article. I need to work on slowing her down before the 3 where there are more corners, as that killed us this weekend.
Obedience was not much better. Her biggest issue in this phase is she wants to do bitework! Her mind is always on biting when she sees blinds up, so her focus was on the blinds not me so heeling was sloppy. Retrieves were ok, but she touched the jump both ways, a bad habit of hers, she was slower then she is in training, she stood on the sit, was slow on the recall, did a nice stand out of the walk, and the voraus looked like the start of a blind search with 2 commands for her to down. I lost points for grabbing her collar a couple of times in an effort to get her to focus on me.
Protection is her *thing*. Blind search was fast(4 blinds now at the 2 level)but a bit wide, and when she hit the hot blind she barked about 15 times and then without taking her eyes off the helper, she backed up into the judge and sat there in heel position with him. That was WEIRD..and my "she has never done that" moment of this trial. She stared intensely but never barked, so the judge let us continue on as she stayed within the allowed space and never looked away. So I didn't have to call her out I just stepped in beside her. The dog lost her mind there! The judge told me he was going to take her home
Escape bite was awesome..reattack awesome. Back transport she was out of control but in fairness to her we forgot to train for that and only practiced in twice prior to the trial. And this b###h is always needing control work and it showed. Attack from rear attack was amazingly fast, the helper stumbled on it as he never expected her to be on him immediately.
Courage test was super fast too. And the helper almost went down here as well and after I picked her up he went to the judge and commented on that fact. The judge was just smiling
He really liked her a lot and his critque started with.."This is what I have been talking about all day when I say dogs have been lacking commitment. This dog shows commitment the entire routine.."
88 prounounced with was the 2 highest score.
Scores were low and only one person broke into the 90s in all phases, a lady with her Tervuren. They went home with pretty much all the hardware. High Protection, OB, Tracking, HIT, High SchH 1.
Javelin did get a High SchH 2 Trophy to add to her collection though.
All in all a fun event and Javelin is a complete blast to work, she always humbles me but I am so proud of her. Thanks for breeding such a cool b###h!
We tried to breed her to Sisco this winter but the breeding never took. We might try her again this Fall but that will most likely be it as she is 4 now. It would be a shame not to get a litter off her and Sisco. They are a great match for one another.
I might be crazy but I entered her in a trial 2 weeks from now. She just learned her stand from a walk 2 weeks ago, so now it will be from a run and I will be judged harder, the only huge issue I see at this point is in tracking. So I will be doing a lot of that the next 13 days!
See you at the Premier.
