The sport has become for trainers , not for the betterment of the working dogs. It's Ballet with dogs, weaker temperaments are making it to the breesder forfront. This is what weaker personel want 7 can handle. Judges prefer to see the dogs hang on the arm like wet towels , .This is seen on the escape. In the past the dog was supposed to make an effoer tot stop the escape , now it goes along for the ride . Puutting the feet on the helper & working the helper with aggression is frowed upn . Many training helpers are correcting the dogs for woking with their feet. Makes me sick to see this happen . I still train in the sport with the intention of my dog to control the decoy .This statement was made to me by a German judge when i was trialing one of my Malinois " Falco " Cheryl will remember him , on the courage test mydog picked up the decoy , carried hin 10 feet backwards & proceeded to shake the sh..... t out of him Seeing this the judge said , we don't see dogs like this in Germany , & his final statement to me was ," you control the helper , you control the judge"I have never forgotten that .
Sorry for ythe long rant ... but ...
