Thanks for the input. I am beginning to see what you mean. It is very much about the dog. The horse aspect I only recently found out about. Been riding my whole life and our current horses are plenty used to dogs, but working with both seems very time consuming. I was thinking of sticking with the retrievers and not doing much with pointers to begin with. I have several big ponds and lots of open land and I live in some of the best duck hunting in the world. My problem so far is finding knowledgeable folks who will talk about it.
