When failing that, then you do the following for learning the controlling by trying:
1. Set the device to DMX-512 mode
2. Set the device to DMX-512 address 1
3. Wire the laser to DMX-512 controller board
4. Use your DMX-512 controller as simple light board where you control channels 1..n directly with the sliders on the board
Now you can start playing testing what those sliders do. First pull everything to zero. Then start from slider 1 and try what it does when you pull it full on, then what it does in middle etc.. Then try next slider.
Be prepared that some channel (maybe first) could control the device on/off so that if that channel is zero it could be that other channel controls do not have any effect on anything.
This is the way I have learned to control some DMX-512 effects I did not have documentation available. You might not learn all the tricks in this way, but you probably can get enough information to do some nice DMX-512 controlled effects anyway...
